The climbing centre is part of the the wider sporting centre based just off the "Westway" (hence the name) dual carriageway in West London. With impressive walls reaching 13.5 metres, extensive facilities, the Westway climbing centre really does have something for everyone.

The Centre

Westway Sports & Fitness Centre is a not-for-profit facility with an awesome climbing wall featuring:

  • 350 climbing routes on 110 roped lines up to 13.5m

  • Bouldering walls with up to 100 boulder problems rotated every 4 weeks

  • Route changes every month

  • 4 auto-belay machines

  • Training rooms specialising in Systems Training and Endurance Training

  • Campus board, gymnastic rings, Lapis balls, quadruple stacked Beastmaker finger boards, pull-up bar and stretching mat

The Westway climbing walls reach 13.5 metres. Routes can be found from grade 3 to grade 8, with bouldering problems up to V10. Westway also boasts a traverse wall, two training rooms and a campus board. All this in the heart of London in their unique urban setting!

Climbing at The Westway

 

Experienced climbers


After registering, climbers will need to complete the climbing competency test which includes:

  • Putting on a harness correctly

  • Tying in using a recognised knot

  • Demonstrating the techniques for belaying and lowering a climber using a top rope.

Registered Competent Climbers can supervise up to two novice climbers.



Juniors aged 14-18 can obtain unsupervised access to the climbing walls if they can complete the more rigorous Junior Climbing Test. See the website for more info.



Climbing Newbie 

Novice climbers can try climbing at a 90 minute taster session, enrol on a Beginners Climbing Course or climb under the supervision of a Registered Competent Climber.

 

Junior Novices will need to be signed in by a competent registered adult climber or be under the care of a Westway Climbing Coach.
